Teach What It Takes to become a viable crew member
Dewey Compton, CTE Film Teacher, West High School, Bakersfield, CA
“It helps them in whatever field they want to go into, whether it's in the movie industry or the entertainment industry or work in logistics at a concert venue. Becoming a production assistant, that's the first step. Once you get in, it's really about you proving yourself that you show up on time, not even on time, but before time. It's about building relationships.”

“I went to film school and so for someone who had to make senior films, worked on different film productions, it was really amazing to see that there's a tool out there that helps anyone. You learn where your value is and what your strengths are and you can apply those to those areas. And then as you keep working your way up, then you start to get towards what you really want to do. And a lot of times you might even find your dream job just being at a production assistant. So it's a great, great, great program.”
Katie McQuone-Botello, Milken Educator of the Year, 2019, Media Academy Teacher, Sunnyside High School, Fresno, CA
“It's a great foundational course for people entering into the video production industry. So learning the terminology, seeing people on set and seeing what a set looks like just through the computer, helps us to be able to build upon those foundational skills that they're getting from the course. So we decided to implement it into our sophomore level, and I've told every video teacher I know about it so that I can help their courses as well.”

“When I first heard about the course, I instantly knew that there was something different about this that others didn't have. I come from a background where we're always talking about the arts and creativity, and how to make a good movie, but this one is actually telling you how to make a movie. It's like how to be responsible, how to handle yourself on the set.”
Katie McQuone-Botello, Milken Educator of the Year, 2019, Media Academy Teacher, Sunnyside High School, Fresno, CA
“I have seen first hand my students go out and get jobs after taking this course and graduating from my program. And this course is access for everyone. It’s not just you’re in LA so you have a foot in the door. I can be anywhere and understand how the industry works and apply it to where I live.”
